letâs create real gender equality through economic empowerment.Â
Not Just Give Lip Service To It.
We can do it!

Are you tired of being asked to speak on International Womenâs Day for free?
For the opportunity? Or for less than you're worth? So that a corporation can tick the IWD box?
Last year, the theme for IWD was Count Her In: Accelerating gender equality through economic empowerment.
Yet despite that theme, corporations still thought it was appropriate to not economically empower their speakers by not paying them or by not paying them what they were worth.
This year, with the IWD theme March Forward: For all Women and Girls, we are reminded that we need to take decisive, bold steps to turn commitments into action. I believe more than ever, it is important for women to be paid what they are worth for speaking at IWD events (and all events for that matter).
Â
It's Time to Draw a Line in the Sand.
To ask Corporations to put their money where your mouth is.
Thatâs why I want to ask you to create real change by saying no to speaking for free or for less than your market rate on IWD and to ask for what youâre worth. (Of course, thereâs always exceptions such as choosing to speak for a charity).
To help you, Iâve created an email template and a script that you can download below.

Hi, I'm Mel!
Iâm an ex-accountant, ex-financial advisor and now financially independent in my own right (after coming back from less than nothing in my 30s as the result of a stupid financial mistake).
I believe finance is personal and itâs about finding the solution that works best for YOU. This is definitely not a âone size fits allâ kinda place.
If weâve just met, welcome to the path towards reducing your financial overwhelm. I promise youâll discover you can do money well and you might even (dare I say) enjoy doing it.
My training has helped thousands of people develop their own tailored financial mix of everything they need to place their energy into and nothing they don't so they can reduce their overwhelm, increase their confidence and walk away from the financial merry-go-round they're on.Â
My passion is to increase the financial literacy of women and in doing so, to help create your financial confidence and your wealth.
